The Summer School is organized by the Research and Development Department of Ellinogermaniki Agogi which has long experience in organizing thematic summer schools and training courses (click here to see the list of past events). The Mars mission summer school course is held in the framework of the PLATON and the Space Awareness projects which are co-funded by the European commission.

Eleftheria Tsourlidaki
Eleftheria Tsourlidaki has graduated from the physics department of the University of Crete where she specialized in computational physics. In 2008 she got her master degree in Astrophysics and Mechanics from the physics department of the University of Athens. Her research is focused on the improvement of the educational procedure by implementing new technologies and achieving maximum interaction between students. Her working experience includes teaching physics, chemistry and mathematics in high school and junior high school students. She has been working in the "Research and Development" department of "Ellinogermaniki Agogi" since January 2010 and her main activity is designing educational scenarios based on using new technologies as well as, training school teachers in using new technologies.
 
Jens Koslowsky
Born and raised in Berlin, Germany, Jens has joined Ellinogermaniki Agogi in September 2015 as a project manager and researcher. He combines a political/social science education with an EU project management background, holding a Magister degree in History and Geography of the Freie Universitat Berlin, as well as a Master of European Studies of the Centre of European Integration Studies (ZEI) at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universitat in Bonn. He is an experienced proposal writer and EU project manager with special focus on international and inter-regional projects that combine creative, educational, vocational and entrepreneurial opportunities. Jens has worked previously at Militos Consulting S.A., coordinating a team of project managers in the implementation and submission of EU funded projects and proposals. Prior to his move to Greece in 2009, he was employed as scientific officer at the International Bureau of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) at the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), supporting the bilateral cooperation between the German ministry and various European countries in the field of research and technology.
 
Sofoklis Sotiriou
Dr. Sofoklis Sotiriou has worked at CERN, at the National Center for Scientific Research "DEMOKRITOS" in Athens and in the Physics Laboratory of Athens University. He holds a PhD in High Energy Neutrino Astrophysics and a PhD in Science Education. He is the Head of R&D Department of Ellinogermaniki Agogi, one of the biggest educational institutions in Greece, where has been active in the co-ordination and development of research projects on implementation of advanced technologies (e.g. mobile applications, wearable computers, VR and AR applications, robotics) in science education and training. Since 2001 he is the Director of the Ellinogermaniki Agogi Center for Teachers Training. His main research field is the design, application, and evaluation of virtual and digital media environments that could bridge the gap between formal and informal science learning. He has been involved in a long series of EU joint research and technology funded projects. He is a member of the European Academy of Sciences (since 2003), member of the board of ECSITE (since 2004) and has served as Expert Evaluator to the European Commission FP5 & FP6 Programmes. He has also act as a consultant to the development of the FP7’s Science in Society Work programme. He is author of numerous articles and publications on the use of ICT in science education. He is also author of the Science Textbooks that are used in all primary Greek schools since 2003.
 

Rosa Doran 

Rosa Doran has a degree in Physics at Pontifícia Universidade Católica in São Paulo, Brazil. Equivalence granted by the University ofLisbon; an MSc in High Energies and Gravitation, at Faculty Of Science Of The University Of Lisbon: “Schwarzschild Black Holes and its Cosmological Applications” and PhD in Science Education at University of Coimbra in course. Her professional activities from 1979 to 1992 were connected to industry management in finance and administrative areas. Since 1992 the main activities are related to science research, public outreach and science education. She is presently the president of NUCLIO (Núcleo Interativo de Astronomia), a non-profit association devoted to public outreach and science education. At an international level she is the vicepresident of the executive council of the Global Hands-on Universe Association (www.globalhou.net), a global institution devoted to Astronomy Education and the chair of the Galileo Teacher Training Program , one of the cornerstones and a legacy of the International Year of Astronomy 2009. Vice-Chair of the panel of education of COSPAR. Member of the task force for education of the
IAU Office of Astronomy for Development. Co-chair of the Portuguese Language Expertise Centre for the International Astronomical Union.
